Sis Sabriya Hussein: A Mother to All

The prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) arrived in Madina after many hardships and persecutions from the Meccans. He arrived with the blessing of goodness and was neither bitter nor dispirited by what he had gone through for 13 years in Mecca. He remained true to the spirit of Islam, the spirit of propagating goodness regardless of our circumstances. In Madina, the Muslims and Jews had to cohabit. The first public address that he gave was “spread the peace, feed people, maintain the ties of kinship and pray while people are asleep so that you may enter paradise in peace”. Among us in our lovely Montreal are dear sisters who have been true to the tradition of the beloved messenger. They shelter the homeless, feeds the poor, comfort the needy and selflessly serve her community. What great ambassador for showcasing the beauty of Islam!  “Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are the ones to attain felicity”. Quran 3:104

As an example, sister Sabriya Hussain and her team have been tremendous pillars of the Muslim community in Montreal. Imagine if you were serving your community 4 days a week. She has been a motherly support and mentor to the Montreal community since we can ever remember. Feeding the homeless to feeding and sheltering lonely students during the fasting months of Ramadan, she has been indeed a mother to all. Sister Sabriya has been an inspiration to the community where she taught us to care for one another, remain steadfast on the right path and always give from what little you have. From the Montreal Muslim community and the Federation of Muslim Women of Quebec, we would like to thank her from all our hearts for her dedication towards helping others in all sense of the word. May God grant her paradise and joy in this life and the next. Here are some of her ongoing events, don’t think twice to join anytime:
